Mitsubishi Fuso Introduces Latest Generation Light-Duty Trucks

Kawasaki/Jakarta – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has launched the latest generation Canter light-duty truck in Indonesia. With the latest design features for safe, reliable and fuel efficient operation, the new Canter introduces new vehicle innovations to customers in the company’s largest export market. The vehicle was unveiled at a press conference held at the headquarters of P.T. KTB (P.T. Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors), the distributor for Mitsubishi Fuso vehicles in Indonesia. Mitsubishi Fuso is the number-one commercial vehicle brand in Indonesia, with an approximate 60 percent retail share of the truck and bus market in 2006. Overall, Indonesia is MFTBC’s largest export market. In 2006, company sales in Indonesia totaled about 19,200 units (wholesale). Over the past five years, MFTBC has sold over 175,000 units (wholesale) in Indonesia. Speaking at the March 26 launch event, Harald Boelstler, MFTBC President & CEO said: “With the new generation vehicle Mitsubishi Fuso is launching today, we demonstrate our commitment to continuing leadership in Indonesia, and most importantly, our commitment to our valued Indonesia customers.” Mr. Boelstler added, “Consolidating Mitsubishi Fuso's leadership position in Indonesia is a key part of MFTBC’s overall strategy. The product in Indonesia also implements Euro 2 engines, for greater environmental performance and to meet government regulations. Bert van Dijk, MFTBC Board member and responsible for International Sales & Service, said: “The new Canter builds on the strong reputation of the former model with enhancements to safety, reliability, functionality, comfort, versatility and economy.” The new Canter is now available at Mitsubishi Fuso dealerships in Indonesia. The product is assembled locally by P.T. Krama Yudha Ratu Motors (KRM) and P.T. Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Motors and Manufacturing (MKM). Indonesia Launch Closely Follows Taiwan Introduction The launch of the latest generation Canter in Indonesia closely follows the product’s introduction in Taiwan on March 14. Mitsubishi Fuso is also the commercial market leader in Taiwan with retail sales exceeding 12,000 units in 2006. Taiwan is the company’s second largest export market, after Indonesia. |
