A treasure trove of historic photos celebrates FUSO's Kawasaki test track and those who helped build it.

Nestled in a residential neighborhood in Kawasaki, Japan, Mitsubishi Fuso’s headquarters, stands as a testament to our rich history and innovative spirit. Known to employees as K1, the campus houses both our head office buildings and production facilities. It was also once home to an oval test track which played a pivotal role in the development of our vehicles.

While exploring our archives, we unearthed a treasure trove of black and white photographs that chronicle the construction of this test course, beginning with the groundbreaking ceremony in 1964. Construction was completed around 1966. These images capture the dedication and craftsmanship that have been the hallmark of FUSO’s journey.

Today, while testing is done at our Kitsuregawa Proving Ground in Tochigi Prefecture, a small portion of the original test course remains at K1 serving as a silent reminder to our company’s history. These photos offer a rare glimpse into the early days of FUSO, showcasing the hard work of countless individuals that laid the foundation for future innovations.
