Kawasaki, Japan – Daimler Trucks Asia (DTA) has reached another important milestone; less than three years after the start of production in 2013, the all-new FUSO range has crossed the 5,000 export vehicles mark. Volumes have been steadily growing, as has been the number of markets, to more than 20 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Furthermore, more than 10 markets will be added in the course of this year, with Kuwait and Peru launched recently.
Since its launch in September 2013 in Kenya, the all-new FUSO range has been introduced to a total of 23 countries, achieving several milestones along the way. September 2014 marked the beginning of sales in Indonesia, FUSO’s largest market. Export activity has been accelerated after the introduction of left-hand drive in Trinidad & Tobago for the first time. In December 2015, it was launched at a large event in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), raising customer expectations in the Middle East region. Two years later, the first International KD operation of the range began in Kenya, which underlined FUSO’s commitment to further developing the important African market, as part of our global strategy. The expansion of the new robust FUSO range will continue in the course of 2016, with its introduction to over 10 new markets.
Mr. Marc Llistosella, President and CEO of MFTBC and Head of Daimler Trucks Asia said: “We are systematically developing the business of Daimler Trucks Asia’s FUSO brand in key growth regions across the globe. The all-new robust FUSO range of vehicles produced at our Oragadam plant in India plays a major role in this strategy.”
Mr. Erich Nesselhauf, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles said: “We are proud of the 5,000 trucks produced for FUSO and more than nine million parts exported to other units within Daimler Trucks worldwide – these are the kind of success stories which underline the potentials of ‘Make in India’.”
More choice for customers with the all-new FUSO range
The all-new robust FUSO range comprises five models including two medium-duty FA and FI (GVW 9-16 tonnes) and three heavy-duty FJ, FO and FZ (GVW and GCW 25-49 tonns) which are developed and rigorously tested to meet the diverse requirements of the target markets. Since its introduction, the all-new FUSO range has already earned great reputation for its robustness and fuel efficiency. With the expansion of its product line-up to newer segments, FUSO increases customer choice, enhances sales and widens growth opportunities.
Daimler Trucks Asia – the strategic organization behind such milestones
