Kawasaki, Japan / Karachi, Pakistan - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, today announced its entry into the Pakistan market. The move expands the brand’s presence into a key, developing market of South Asia, and reinforces MFTBC’s leadership position in the so-called “Next 11” markets. MFTBC will enter the market with the FE Canter light-duty trucks (GVW 6.5-7.2 tons) and FV Super Great heavy-duty prime movers (GVW 28 tons) in Pakistan. The trucks will be exported as CKD kits from Japan and assembled locally in Karachi by Master Motor Corporation, Ltd. Master Motor will also serve as the distributor for Mitsubishi Fuso vehicles and will build up a comprehensive sales and service network. “Mitsubishi Fuso is very pleased to bring our light- and heavy-duty trucks to Pakistan,” said Mr. Kai-Uwe Seidenfuss, MFTBC Vice President of Sales and Service International. “We see significant potential for business and economic development in Pakistan and South Asia as a whole, and believe our efficient high quality commercial vehicles can strongly support the expected growth.” He added, “We look forward to working together with our partner Master Motor Corporation to ensuring production quality and to building a strong service network in support of our Pakistan customers.” New Entry into Next 11 The Pakistan market entry also bolsters MFTBC’s presence in the “Next 11” markets. This group of high potential economies encompasses Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, South Korea, Philippines, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Mitsubishi Fuso is present in 9 of these 11 countries, and is the overall commercial vehicle leader with an approximately 40% share among Japanese manufacturers in 2009. “Mitsubishi Fuso is focused on expanding our presence in high potential markets including the ‘Next 11,’” Mr. Seidenfuss concluded. “As growth potential shifts to Asia and the developing world, we are moving comprehensively to further strengthen our position in these regions with robust products, services and networks.” The company has brought over 25 new products and product changes to 19 international markets in 2010.
