Kawasaki - Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, today unveiled its strategic truck for export to select Asian and African markets. Under its 5-pillar growth strategy FUSO 2015, the company is strengthening its global operations to better position itself in the new growth markets in Asia and Africa. The all-new robust FUSO trucks were unveiled to members of the media at Daimler Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. (DICV) Plant, Chennai, India, on May 23, 2013.
5 all-new robust FUSO models rolled out to 15 markets: More choice for customers
The FUSO truck range manufactured at DICV Oragadam plant comprises 5 new models, the light-medium-duty (GVW 9-16 tons referred to as ‘FA’ & ‘FI’) and the medium-heavy-duty (GVW 25-49 tons referred to as ‘FJ’, ‘FO’ & ‘FZ’). These trucks will be exported and sold through MFTBC’s global network to 15 markets in Asia and Africa starting with Sri Lanka in June 2013. Other markets include Bangladesh, Zambia, Kenya, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius, and the Seychelles, with further markets currently evaluated.

Outline and specifications of the FA/FI
The light-medium-duty FA and FI trucks are based on Daimler Trucks technical platform – Mitsubishi Fuso’s Fighter medium-duty truck on the chassis and the Canter light-duty truck on the cabin – incorporating a newly developed 4D37 diesel engine (Displacement: 3,907 cc, Output: 100 kW (420 Nm) / 125 kW (520 Nm)) and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Outline and Specifications of the FJ/FO/FZ
The medium-heavy-duty FJ, FO, and FZ trucks, also based on Daimler Trucks technical platform uses Mercedes-Benz Axor chassis and cabin and incorporates a newly developed 6S20 diesel engine (Displacement: 6,373 cc, Output: 170 kW (810 Nm) / 205 kW (1,100 Nm)) and a 6- or 9-speed manual transmissions.

Daimler Truck Asia’s game-changer ready for export
The FUSO trucks are being built at the new plant in Oragadam near Chennai in Southern India. The production facility has a total dedicated investment of over 44 billion Indian rupees (approximately €620 million). Modern, durable, and fuel efficient “Made in India” trucks will make Daimler Trucks the game changer in the growth markets in Asia and Africa. Rigorous testing has been assessed under the most strenuous driving conditions in Oragadam to ensure maximum reliability of the trucks.
